DiplomaStrat is an examination preparation app for polytechnic (diploma) students in Telangana, India, preparing for the ECET entrance examination. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. It is written to describe what the app actually does rather than to cover every eventuality.
The short version. We collect what is needed to give you an account, show you the right syllabus, and record your test results. We do not use advertising, we do not use analytics or tracking software, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.
Who we are
The app is operated by DiplomaStrat, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. For any question about this policy or your information, write to contact@diplomastrat.com.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name | To identify your account and show your results to your teacher. |
| Your mobile number | It is how you sign in. It is the one piece of information the account cannot exist without. |
| Your password | Stored only as a cryptographic hash. We cannot read it, and nor can anyone with access to our database. |
| Your email address | Optional. Used to contact you about your account. |
| Your roll number | Optional. So your college can match your results to their own records. |
| Your college, branch, regulation and semester | To show you the right syllabus, the right tests and the right study material. |
| Your profile picture | Optional, and only if you upload one. |
| Your test activity | The tests you take, the answers you give, your marks and how long you took. This is the substance of the product. |
| A device identifier | So your account can only be signed in on one device at a time. This protects your account from being shared or used by someone else. |
| Sign-in times | To keep your account secure and to let your college see whether you are using the app. |
| Payment reference number | Only if you pay for a subscription through the app. This is the reference your own payment app gives you — we never see your bank details, card details or UPI PIN. |
| How many screenshots or screen recordings you make | A count only, to protect the study material from being copied and shared. See Screenshots and screen recording below. |
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your location.
- We do not read your contacts, photos, messages, call logs or files.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, and the app contains no advertising.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting software that profiles you.
- We never see your bank details, card numbers, UPI PIN or any payment credential.
Screenshots and screen recording
The questions, papers and notes in the app are the work we pay to produce, and one copy shared in a group chat reaches hundreds of people who have not paid for it. So the app discourages copying, and we are telling you exactly how.
- On Android, screenshots and screen recording are blocked. Your phone will refuse to take them while the app is open. Nothing is recorded, because nothing can happen.
- On iPhone, Apple gives apps no way to block a screenshot. So instead we count them: how many you have taken, how many times you have recorded the screen, and the date of the most recent one. If you do it during a test, your teacher is told.
What this is not. We keep a number and a date. We do not record which screen you were on, which question was showing, or the time of each individual screenshot. We are not watching what you read or building a picture of how you use the app — we are counting how much of our material is being copied, which is a different thing, and we have deliberately built it so it cannot become the first.
Who can see your information
- You, in the app.
- Your college — if you were enrolled by a college, its teachers and principal can see your name, roll number, branch, semester and your test results. This is the point of the product: your teacher sets tests and reads the results.
- Us — our operations team, to run the service and support you.
If you registered yourself rather than through a college, no college can see your information.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing or purposes.
Services we rely on
Running the app means some information is stored or passes through services operated by others. They act on our instructions and only for the purposes below.
- Cloud hosting and database — where the service runs and your account is stored.
- Cloudflare R2 — where uploaded files, including your profile picture and study material, are stored.
- Google Fonts — the app downloads a typeface from Google when it first runs. Google receives the request as it would for any website using their fonts.
- Google Play — distributes the app.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your results for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, see the next section. We may keep records we are required by law to keep.
Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your account from inside the app — My Profile → Delete my account — or from our deletion page, without installing anything.
What deletion does, precisely. Everything that identifies you is erased: your name, mobile number, email address, roll number, profile picture and password. Your account can never be signed into again.
Your test results are kept, with your name removed. We are honest about this rather than quiet about it. Your marks form part of your class's averages and your teacher's reports; removing them would silently change figures other students and staff rely on. Once your account is deleted those results are no longer connected to you and cannot be traced back to you through the app.
We action deletion requests within 30 days. If we cannot action a request we will tell you why.
Keeping it safe
- All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit.
- Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes and are never recoverable.
- Your sign-in token is stored in your device's secure keystore.
- Your account is limited to one signed-in device at a time.
- Access to the underlying data is limited to staff who need it to run the service.
No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.
Children
DiplomaStrat is intended for polytechnic students and is not directed at children under 13. Where a student under 18 is enrolled by their college, the college is responsible for obtaining any consent required. If you believe a child has given us information without appropriate consent, write to us and we will remove it.
Your rights
- See your information — most of it is on the My Profile screen; write to us for the rest.
- Correct it — you can edit your own details in the app. If you were enrolled by a college, your college holds your academic record and can correct it.
- Delete your account — see above.
- Ask a question or complain — write to us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app.
